every time I came. She said the arah had told her and her hus-

band go.

I daid, Did your husband make you do as you did on

Friday against your free will, that is,look for me on the verandah

and stand where you did so that I could not get past you? Sho

said her husband made her do it. I said, After you told your

husband of what I am supposed to have done to you on the Tuesday,

you did not want the matter to go any farther, but if I came again

to let the amah soold me? She said, Yes. I did not ask her any

more questions but she said, Do not dismiss the inspector,because

he has a wife. The Committee thanked her, and she was allowed to

withdraw. One other question I asked her before withdrawal was,

if she did not take my stick from me and tell me to take off my

clothes, saying it was hot. She denied this, and said that I said

it was hot.
